Dieting & Weight Loss: Getting Back on Track

(plus my favorite quick veggie burger)

Oh my god I have diverted so far off of my healthy routine in the past few months.  I lose 20 pounds last summer, and I’ve gained 10 back.  I’m kind of hating myself for it, but also not giving up on myself.  Weight is fluid, it’s always changing.  I lost it before, and I can do it again.

I’ve just plain been eating and drinking too much.  I’ve stayed up drinking wine and talking on the phone with my friend, and as fun as it is, it’s making me fat and lazy.  I don’t know if I’ve been feeling depressed lately, but maybe I have, and drinking is my vice…always has been.  I do know that’s it’s a vicious cycle.  If I am depressed, eating crappy and drinking too much isn’t going to help with the depression.  I’ve always wished I could be one of those alien people who lose their appetite when they’re stressed or depressed.

I’m happier when I don’t drink often, but I’ve just been in a bad habit lately.  My husband has been under a lot of pressure lately, and I think I’m absorbing some of that…like I guess literally in the way of pounds.  Normally I’m not so personal or open about things like this, but I think I need to just come clean!

I am going to start going back to Zumba because I love it.  I am going to not drink when I am stressed out.  I am going to eat fewer than 1700 calories per day (except for my birthday and Thanksgiving) until I lose the 10 pounds I need to.

kicproductimage-120648_grillers_original_burger.pngMy favorite veggie burgers are something I’ve been eating nearly every day for the past 2 weeks.  I have made them from scratch before, but I also really like the premade ones.  My all-time favorite is Morningstar Farms Grillers Original Burgers.  They have the best flame-grilled flavor and a good meaty texture.  Since I’m not a vegetarian, when I do eat vegetarian, I either want it to taste like meat or like vegetables.  I don’t want it to taste fake.  So after all my sampling, these are the best.

0073410135430_CL_Angled_type_large.jpegI use Arnold Sandwich Thins for the bun.  I like my burger traditional with ketchup, mustard, onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickles.  To me, cheese is not worth it in this case.  With all the other flavors and textures going on, I don’t actually taste the cheese, and if I’m trying to eat less, it really isn’t worth the calories (same with mayo).  So that’s been my go-to!  Here are some other things I’ve written about dieting, if you’re interested.
